CAT Interpretation and Analysis Services

Helping schools maximise the impact of their CAT data

CAT Interpretation and Analysis Services delve deeply into your CAT data, helping you to fully embed the power of CAT predictions into teaching and learning and whole school strategic planning.

CAT Interpretation and Analysis Services are designed to support schools in the use of rich data to enhance learning and teaching. By focusing on the full range of insights afforded through the CAT data, schools are supported in their school improvement planning and can better meet the learning needs of every student.

As part of the service, schools are partnered with a skilled and experienced facilitator who helps you get to the heart of your data, identify the key questions and map out the next steps to address these.

A closer look

Our CAT Interpretation and Analysis Services currently comprise two bespoke packages. The core service is focused on the school’s CAT report, and an extended service option is available for users of our Progress in English and Progress in Maths assessments. Both have as their principle focus advice and discussion on your school’s strategies for identifying and meeting the needs of specific pupils or groups.

Our CAT Interpretation and Analysis Services provide:

  • an experienced facilitator as your personal service provider
  • identification of key questions and insights from your CAT data, including:
    • a conceptual look at how to fine-tune diagnostic interpretation of the data using ‘triangulation’ between CAT data and other data sources
    • consideration of the implications for the teaching and learning of specific
      sub-cohorts and individuals
  • an in-depth discussion of the emerging issues and the strategies and processes that can best address these (up to 3 hours)
  • a written report capturing the priorities, strategies and processes suggested and agreed during the visit.

Our enhanced service

Our enhanced service provides all of the above but enriches the picture further by analysing your CAT data alongside two other data sets, to be chosen from:

  • Progress in English
  • Progress in Maths
  • Teacher Assessment, including Assessing Pupils' Progress (APP) data, if available.

The 'triangulation' between your CAT data and the other data sources enables
fine-tuning in the identification of anomalies, providing valuable additional insights into individual students or sub-cohorts.
