nferNelson extends e-assessment portfolio with popular spelling test for primary and secondaryAn online version of nferNelson’s popular Single Word Spelling Test has been unveiled today. Designed for students aged 6 – 14, Single Word Spelling Test Digital is an untimed, standardised spelling test that uses sentence completion questions that are relevant for all UK curricula. The online test offers a more motivating experience for students, and instant scoring, analysis and reporting for teachers. It is a welcome addition to nferNelson’s comprehensive e-assessment service, which has now delivered over 450,000 digital tests in UK schools.
Single Word Spelling Test Digital consists of nine tests, covering each age level from 6 – 14. The tests cover everyday vocabulary and contain between 30-50 words (depending on level) including high frequency, Literacy Hour and spelling bank words. All instructions and administration of questions are given orally, so no reading is involved on the part of students.
Once the test has been completed online, teachers are automatically sent an instant group report that features spelling ages, percentile ranks, standard scores, question by question analysis and analysis by word level against national scores. Pupils’ individual responses are also provided. Results can be exported easily into a school’s Management Information System, so a permanent record of scores is available to log pupil progress and inform report writing.
