Letts launches PC Master series for ages 7 to 70!

Letts Educational, the UK's leading publisher of examination study and revision guides, has just launched a new series of books that offers an accessible, jargon-free approach to learning basic PC skills. The PC Master series is ideal for all computer beginners, regardless of their age, whilst also supporting the ICT Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 Curriculum.

 

The PC Master series shows readers how to use the Internet, graphics programmes and the most commonly-used Windows packages through step-by-step instruction. The books are highly visual with easy-reference screen shots and offer helpful tips and shortcuts. ‘Skills Check' exercises monitor progress and ‘Masterclass' exercises offer extension activities for those wishing to push their knowledge a little further.

 

The PC Master series consists of the following five books:

 

  • Web Master teaches the basics of using Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook, how to download files and search the Internet effectively. It also covers more challenging skills, such as how to create web pages in HTML.
  • Graphics Master shows how to produce stunning graphics on your PC using Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop and a range of other graphics software programs. It explains how to use basic tools, how to edit and manipulate shapes, images and photographs, and how to create digital images.
  • Word Master teaches how to set up a basic document in Microsoft Word, how to add extras like photographs and tables, and how to create hyperlinks and use mail merge.
  • Excel Master explains the basics of using Microsoft Excel, from creating, editing and printing spreadsheets to creating all types of formulae.
  • Windows Master provides the basics for organising files and folders and how to customise your computer and manage software. It also covers ways in which you can improve the performance of your PC.

 

The series will be available from this month in retailers such as WHSmith and Waterstones at a cost of £5.99 per book.
