SEMERC'S "A BUSY DAY" OFFERS INCLUSIVE APPROACH TO READING

10 May, 2007 - A Busy Day is a new reading program from inclusive publisher, SEMERC, which is designed to encourage language development for children who are unable to access the normal routes to reading. The CD-ROM is full of highly motivational graphics, activities and games to encourage and reinforce children’s word recognition, based on vocabulary that is familiar and meaningful. A comprehensive choice of accessibility options also enables teachers to use the resource to support children with a range of learning difficulties.

NFERNELSON EXTENDS E-ASSESSMENT PORTFOLIO WITH POPULAR SPELLING TEST FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY

11 April 2007 An online version of nferNelson’s popular Single Word Spelling Test has been unveiled today. Designed for students aged 6 – 14, Single Word Spelling Test Digital is an untimed, standardised spelling test that uses sentence completion questions that are relevant for all UK curricula. The online test offers a more motivating experience for students, and instant scoring, analysis and reporting for teachers. It is a welcome addition to nferNelson’s comprehensive e-assessment service, which has now delivered over 450,000 digital tests in UK schools.

ENTERPRISE ACADEMY DVD INSPIRES LIVERPOOL'S NEXT GENERATION OF YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

5 March 2007 – Liverpool’s two Business and Enterprise specialist schools, the North Liverpool Academy and New Heys Community School, have today launched an educational DVD which showcases five of Liverpool’s successful young entrepreneurs. The DVD charts what inspired the entrepreneurs and offers their top tips for success. It will be utilised in enterprise events at schools across the city and the North Liverpool Academy will also host the DVD online, so that students and teachers can access it 24/7.

 

ASE SHORTLISTED FOR BEST TECHNICAL INNOVATION IN ONLINE RECRUITMENT AT ONREC AWARDS 2007

1 March 2007 – ASE’s new online testing and assessment system, Testingworldwide.com, has been shortlisted in the Best Technical Innovation in Recruitment category at this year’s Onrec Awards. The online system is designed to deliver a comprehensive range of ASE’s leading psychometric tests, helping clients to identify the best candidates at an early stage, whist reducing recruitment costs and timeframes. The results will be announced on Wednesday 7 March, 2007.

SEMERC'S TALE OF STRUMBIE ISLAND AIDS EMOTIONAL LITERACY

At BETT 2007 (stand C50), inclusive publisher, SEMERC, will showcase a CD-ROM and workbook that encourage the development of emotional literacy at Key Stages 1 & 2. Highly engaging and interactive, Strumbie Island supports the recent primary PSHE programme of resources, SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning), which has been sent to every primary school in England. The Strumbie Island programme can also be used in special schools and in alternative settings, such as children’s homes and within the NSPCC.
